Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 14, 2026
The Short Version
SampleStack collects minimal, anonymous usage data to help us improve the app. Your audio samples and library data stay entirely on your Mac. We don't have accounts, we can't identify you, and we never access your files.
What We Collect
Anonymous Usage Analytics
SampleStack uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to collect anonymous usage signals. This helps us understand which features are used and how to improve the app.
What is sent to TelemetryDeck:
- When a sample library or collection is added or created
- Which module type was selected (e.g., "Digitakt", "Morphagene")
What is NOT sent:
- Personal information (name, email, Apple ID)
- File names, file paths, or folder structures
- Audio content or sample metadata
- Tags, ratings, notes, or any user-created data
TelemetryDeck does not use cookies, does not track users across apps, and does not create advertising profiles. All signals are anonymized and cannot be tied back to individual users. You can read TelemetryDeck's privacy policy for more details.
Apple-Collected Data
As a Mac App Store application, Apple may collect certain data in accordance with their policies, including:
- App analytics: If you have opted in to share analytics with developers in your macOS settings (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may share aggregated, de-identified usage and crash data with us.
- Purchase data: Apple processes all transactions and may share non-identifying purchase summaries with us (e.g., number of sales by region).
- Crash reports: If you have opted in, Apple may collect and share crash logs to help us fix bugs.
You can control what Apple shares by adjusting your privacy settings in System Settings. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for full details.
What We Don't Collect
We do not collect:
- Personal information (name, email, address, phone number)
- Audio samples, file names, or file metadata
- Library organization, folder structures, or file paths
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Location data
- Browsing history
Your Data Stays on Your Device
All application data — your sample libraries, metadata, tags, ratings, preferences, and waveform caches — is stored locally on your Mac. Your audio files are never uploaded anywhere.
Purchases and Payments
SampleStack offers in-app purchases through the Apple App Store. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We never see, collect, or store any payment information, billing details, or Apple ID credentials.
Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The anonymous analytics described above cannot identify individual users of any age.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will note the updated date at the top of this page. Your continued use of SampleStack after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
