I wanted to share some of what I’m working on, and invite you to a newly created Discord where I’ll post more frequent updates. Let’s jump in.
Multisample support
The next big project I’ve been building is support for assembling multisample kits in SampleStack. I have a good prototype working, and I plan to release a preview through TestFlight later this weekend.
The workflow is simple. You create a new instrument in the sidebar and load in a set of samples. SampleStack detects the pitch of each one and automatically assigns it a zone. The more samples you add across the range, the narrower each zone becomes.
A few of the features:
- Preview. Play each note with MIDI, the computer keyboard, or the mouse. There’s a virtual pitch bend wheel, or you can bend over MIDI. 16-note polyphony.
- Velocity. The app automatically assigns velocity ranges when you load multiple samples on the same pitch. Adjust them however you like.
- Envelope. Set the kit’s ADSR envelope and preview it from the keyboard.
- Export. I’m adding support for SFZ, Ableton presets, Disting, Decent Sampler, and more.

Here’s a look at multisample mode. Each note zone shows as a group along the top, with its actual coverage on the keyboard below. Some visual refinement is still to come, but I plan to ship this to production in the next week or two.
If you’d like early access, you can join the TestFlight group here.
A new Discord
I’ve set up a Discord shared with my Signal Function Set project (VCV Rack modules and more). It’s a small community right now, but it’s a good place to share feedback or feature requests for SampleStack, especially if you join the TestFlight. Click here to join.
Windows support
I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up, but I’ve started looking into a Windows port for those of you who have asked. The current app is fully native on the Mac, so a Windows version means a substantial rebuild rather than a quick recompile. I’m exploring it, and I’ll keep this list posted.
Version 1.1.3
I released version 1.1.3 a week or two ago, with better support for large libraries and several more native devices. You can see the full list on the instruments page. The update should have applied automatically from the App Store.
As always, send any requests or suggestions my way, either in the Discord or by email.
