How many devices does SampleStack support?
SampleStack has built-in profiles for 43 hardware devices: 25 Eurorack modules and 18 standalone samplers and grooveboxes. It also exports to software targets like SFZ, SoundFont 2, Decent Sampler, Ableton Sampler, and disting.
What does “SampleStack supported” mean on a device page?
It means SampleStack has a built-in profile for that device. It knows the exact sample rate, bit depth, channel count, duration limit, folder structure, and filename rules, so it can validate a folder, convert whatever needs converting, and export in the layout the device expects.
My device isn't listed. Can I still use it?
Yes. You can create a custom device profile with your hardware's sample rate, bit depth, channel, duration, and folder rules, and SampleStack validates and converts against it the same way it does for built-in devices.
Does SampleStack work with software samplers too?
Yes. Alongside hardware, it imports SFZ and Decent Sampler instruments, and builds and exports multisample instruments to SFZ, SoundFont 2, Decent Sampler, Ableton Sampler, disting EX and NT, and 1010music Bitbox.
Can I use SampleStack instruments in a soft synth like Serum?
Yes, through SFZ. Export a multisample instrument as SFZ and it opens in Serum 2, sforzando, UVI Falcon, TX16Wx, TAL-Sampler, Bitwig, and the other players listed on this page, with key ranges, velocity layers, and loops intact. SampleStack does not need a separate profile for each one, because SFZ is an open format they all read.
Are new devices still being added?
Yes, regularly. Recent additions include the Synthstrom Deluge, Teenage Engineering EP-133 K.O. II, and Korg Volca Sample 2.
