SampleStack 1.3.2 brings three new instruments, a new export format, better SFZ fidelity, and a fix for a Digitakt playback limit that’s been frustrating users for a while.
Synthstrom Deluge
The Synthstrom Deluge is a groovebox that loads multisampled instruments by reading an entire folder of samples and mapping them across its keyboard. The Deluge detects each sample’s pitch on its own, but it’s not always reliable on pitched material with complex timbres. SampleStack writes a note tag into each WAV file when it exports, so the Deluge uses the note you set rather than guessing.
The Deluge’s native format is 44.1 kHz at 16 or 24-bit, on a FAT32 SD card. Files at other rates play back but are resampled every time, which costs CPU. SampleStack converts to native format, and exports multisample instruments directly into the SAMPLES/ folder layout the Deluge expects.
Teenage Engineering EP-133 K.O. II and Korg Volca Sample 2
EP-133 K.O. II. The EP-133 has no SD card slot and no USB mass storage mode, so samples reach it through Teenage Engineering’s browser-based EP Sample Tool via USB-C. SampleStack prepares samples for that workflow: it converts to the EP-133’s native 46.875 kHz / 16-bit format, counts slots used out of the 999 available, and flags when a sample needs trimming to fit the available memory. You drag the prepared files into the sample tool from there.
Korg Volca Sample (2nd Gen). The Volca Sample 2 holds 200 sample slots and 8 MB of memory (about 130 seconds total) and transfers via Korg’s Librarian software. SampleStack converts samples to the Volca’s 31.25 kHz / 16-bit mono format and tracks slot count and total memory usage as you build the collection.
TX16Wx export
Multisampled instruments can now be exported as native TX16Wx programs. TX16Wx is a free sampler plugin from CWITEC, available for Mac and Windows, and the exported program opens directly without any remapping. This joins SFZ, SoundFont 2, Decent Sampler, Ableton Sampler, and the Disting EX and NT on the export list.
Improvements
SFZ export fidelity. SFZ export now carries each zone’s volume, pan, sample start point, loop settings, and round-robins into the exported file. Any SFZ opcodes that SampleStack doesn’t edit directly are also preserved, so custom additions from imported SFZ files come out the other side intact.
Compare Formats. The format comparison page now includes TX16Wx and the Deluge alongside every other supported instrument.
Two smaller improvements: switching to the Multisamples view is faster with large libraries, and sample rows stay readable at narrow window widths.
Fixes
Elektron Digitakt: sample length limit corrected. SampleStack was treating 33 seconds as the Digitakt’s maximum sample length and rejecting or shortening anything longer. That’s the Digitakt’s recording limit, not its playback limit. Transferred samples can run to about 11 minutes. The cap is removed.
Layout stability has also improved when resizing the window. There’s an edge case under investigation that could affect this further; if it doesn’t reappear during your testing, this note will be updated.
SampleStack 1.3.2 is available now on the Mac App Store.
