Logic Pro

SampleStack supported

Apple

Apple's DAW. Its Sampler does not read SFZ, but it imports SoundFont 2, which SampleStack exports.

Logic Pro is Apple's DAW, with a built-in Sampler (formerly EXS24) and Quick Sampler for playing sampled instruments. It does not read SFZ, but it does import SoundFont 2, so SampleStack can still reach it.

Logic runs on macOS only and is a paid app from Apple.

File format and compatibility

Logic's Sampler recognizes and converts SoundFont 2 (SF2), DLS, and Gigasampler files into sampler instruments, but it does not read SFZ. SampleStack exports SoundFont 2, so the route into Logic is to export your instrument as SF2 and import it into the Sampler. The SoundFont 2 export page covers what that format carries.

If you would rather keep SFZ, a free SFZ player like sforzando runs as an Audio Unit plugin inside Logic, so you can play a SampleStack SFZ export on a Logic track without converting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Logic Pro import SFZ?

No. Logic's Sampler does not read SFZ. It does import SoundFont 2, DLS, and Gigasampler files, which it converts into sampler instruments.

How do I get a SampleStack instrument into Logic?

Export it as SoundFont 2 (SF2) from SampleStack and import the SF2 into Logic's Sampler. Alternatively, run a free SFZ player like sforzando as an Audio Unit plugin and load an SFZ export there.

Is Logic's Quick Sampler the same as the Sampler?

Quick Sampler quickly turns a single audio file into a playable instrument. The full Sampler is where you load multisample instruments, including SoundFont 2 files from SampleStack.
