Preparing samples for the Disting EX

The Expert Sleepers Disting EX reads 16-bit WAV at any sample rate, mono or stereo, from its microSD card, with up to 100 folders of 100 samples at the top level. Without a playlist, folders and files simply sort alphabetically, which is enough for triggered playback.

For anything more, a playlist.txt inside a folder sets file order and per-file options like loop points and root notes, and a root-level playlist.txt controls which folders show up. That makes the EX a real multisample player: SampleStack can build an instrument and export it for the Disting, writing the playlist and mapping so it plays across the keyboard without hand-editing text files.
