Notes

  • All samples must be placed inside the /samples/ subdirectory (unlike Disting EX which uses root-level folders)
  • Accepts 8-bit, 16-bit, or 24-bit uncompressed WAV, mono or stereo, at any sample rate
  • playlist.txt controls file order and per-file options (loop points, root note). First line must be 'disting playlist v1'
  • Algorithm-specific playlists checked first (e.g., poly-multisample-playlist.txt), then playlist.txt as fallback
  • MIDI algorithms look for midi-playlist.txt instead of playlist.txt

Preparing samples for the Disting NT

The Disting NT differs from the EX in where samples go: everything lives inside a /samples/ subdirectory rather than root-level folders. It accepts 8, 16, or 24-bit WAV at any rate and resamples internally, mono or stereo, from a FAT32 or exFAT card.

Order and per-file options come from playlist.txt, whose first line has to read 'disting playlist v1', and some algorithms look for their own playlist first, such as poly-multisample-playlist.txt or midi-playlist.txt. SampleStack targets the NT's Poly Multisample layout directly: build an instrument and export it, and the samples, playlist, and mapping are written into /samples/ for you.
