Frequently Asked Questions

What sample format does the Squid Salmple need?

16-bit, 44.1 kHz mono WAV files. The module accepts 24-bit and converts down on load, and stereo files are summed to mono. Each channel can hold up to ~11 seconds of audio.

How are samples organized on the Squid Salmple?

Samples live on a USB drive in a strict /alm022/Bank N/1..8/ folder layout. Each bank has eight numbered subfolders, each holding one WAV file. The module supports up to 99 banks, plus a Pool folder for unorganized samples.

Why won't my Squid Salmple load my samples?

Most common causes: wrong folder structure (samples must be inside /alm022/Bank N/1..8/), wrong sample rate (must be 44.1 kHz), file longer than 11 seconds (will be truncated), or USB drive formatted as exFAT instead of FAT32. SampleStack's Squid Salmple profile validates all of this automatically.

Can the Squid Salmple play stereo samples?

No. The Squid Salmple is mono per channel. Stereo files are summed to mono on load. If you need stereo playback in Eurorack, look at the Morphagene, Bitbox mk2, or Multigrain instead.

Where can I find free Squid Salmple banks?

squidbanks.com hosts a community library of free banks, and ALM Busy Circuits provides factory content as well. SampleStack can convert any folder of samples into a Squid Salmple-compatible bank in one pass.
